Those of you that use or would like to use

Postby rambler72 » Sun Feb 06, 2011 11:43 am

Coconut oil I just went on www.iHerb.com
and bought a 54oz jar of the Nutivia Extra Virgin Coconut oil for $23.95 WITH shipping!!
I get mine here locally at Fred Meyer for $24 for a 29oz jar.
If you go online and buy it and use this code OGE439 you also get an extra $5 off. I use it for quite a bit so it goes pretty fast in our house. Just thought you guys would like a heads up!!

Yes, cookies! And dog (and human!) supplements!

Here's a WDJ article I read a long time ago. I bought some over the years but fail in consistently supplementing with it. lol Make sure if you buy some to ingest, that it's not the kind sold for external beauty products/lotions/hair.

I put it in my coffee, feed it to the dogs to keep their coats shiny. It has all sorts of health benefits.
I am going to make some white chocolatie treats when the big jar comes. I will let you know how they
turn out. I also put in in my hair and on my face.
If you go google benefits of coconut oil it will list a ton of links.

I ordered the medium size container, wanted to give this a try and ordered some raw honey as well because I was out. Thanks for the $5 off, that's a neat little referral program they have, my BIL just started using coconut oil so I may send him that way if he likes it and give him that code too. He bought a tiny little sample online like an ounce for $8! I had to laugh it's expensive locally but the grocery store has a 12oz for $9. I'd never thought about putting it in coffee. I'll have to tell him that idea and the cookies, I know some use it like butter on toast, but couldn't think of any other good ways to eat it and he didn't want to just eat it off a spoon. I suppose the dogs love it?

one of my dogs loves it and will eat it off the spoon like a treat, the other I warm it up and put over her food.
You can mix a liquid sugar with it by heating the oil up to it's melting point. Room temp if you are in a warm climate. Add.... an extract mint or peppermint (drop or two maybe), then put it in a bag flatten it out then freeze it. Once it is frozen take it out break it up and you have a yummy treat!! I am going to try adding some chocolate to it see if it is good that way.

Ordered the medium bottle to try with Cherry, my atopy dog.

How much do y'all give to your pit bulls daily as a supplement? She's 41 lbs.

I give both dogs about 1TBS each. They are 67lbs and 40lbs. Start her out with a small amount first just in case it gives her the runs. It never affected my dogs but Cherry struggles with alot of allergies right?

I ordered some too because Lily is SO itchy in the winter.

Here is some information from the Nutiva site about using it on/in dogs: http://nutiva.com/articles/healthy-dogs ... conut-oil/
it has the recommended dosage, etc.

There is a lot of information if you Google it. From what I've read so far it seems that the Nutiva brand is a good brand.

Yes, she does. Right now her allergies aren't so bad, it is just the dry winter skin giving her the itchies. Hopefully the coconut oil can help that!

We go into it with a veterinarian friend. She orders us raw organic coconut oil by the 2 gallon jar. HUGE. Costs us $45.00 with shipping. Try it on toast and in oatmeal! So yummy.

We use their hemp protein, too (for us humans). I think they are pretty good.

I just got mine a few days ago. I like to eat it with a spoon! Hahahaha it's goood.

The dogs like it as well, so I've started giving it to them with their meal. :)
