Can you apply it directly to their fur?

Yes, a friend of mine rubs it onto the skin of her Peke that has some chronic allergy/skin issues.

Blu has a trouble spot that he keeps scratching right by his ear. I guess I should probably check with the derm before I apply anything to it, though.
Is this the one people are ordering?

I've been adding it to the girls' food for about a week now. Their coats, which were soft to begin with, are even softer and shinier! I'm loving this stuff!

Plus, it tastes good. lol

Jacki,
have you tried it with those white/milk chocolate baking blocks???? I am doing that this weekend. Make myself some little chocolate treats with the coconut oil base.

Do you have a recipe for the candies??

I got mine and the dogs and I just eat a bit off a spoon so far. I don't want to give too much all at once and get the runs. It does seem to give me energy and I love how creamy it is in my mouth. :mmm:

Funny thing is I don't like coconut!! HAHAHAHA!! But I love this coconut oil!

I will post it up on Monday let you know how it turned out. I know it will need to be refrigerated because Coconut Oil has such a low melting point but it is good with a little agave mixed in so why not chocolate :headbang:

Yaay more people are jumping on the coconut oil band wagon :yay:

Since I always have a jar of it in the house for my hair, I started giving it to the dogs after their fish oil ran out and their coats actually look better to me. I give them both a solid tablespoon every morning and they gulp the whole thing down before eating their kibble lol.

Whenever I'm doing my hair, Annie likes to come up to me and get oil massaged into her coat. She's such a shiny, smooth, puppy now

I actually got a different brand at my local natural health store to try a small jar.
I gave Blu a little less than 1/3 tsp. tonight (starting small) and rubbed some into his problem skin spots. Only problem is that he now thinks his fur is sooooo delicious and can't stop licking himself. I tried to rub it in realllllllll good but he still seems to be tasting it. Ugh.

Does everyone still recommend a tsp/day? Even if you're giving fish oil at the same time?

I've been feeding some (2/3 teaspoon daily right now, working up slowly) to both the dogs daily, plus rubbing some into their fur (daily at first, now every few days). Nero last summer lost hair in spots all over his back, went on antibotics and shampoo, whole nine yards, very slowly got better, than it came right back about a month after it went away but to a much lesser degree, mostly just dry skin and little spotty coat, I left it since he's not super itchy, put him on fish oil, fish based food, still using the shampoo when it was really bad. Now about over a month ago Jersey started dropping fur in spots all over like he was originally. So obviously not allergies because both dogs have it. I bought some of this to give a try and since I've been giving it, Nero's coat is almost 100% and Jersey's hairloss spots are growing in and not adding any more. Plus no more dry skin. I also cut out their fish oil supplement. I'm amazed, but convinced and kind of kicking myself for not buying the huge container the first time around, I use it on my skin and hair as well. I don't even like coconut but it smells pretty good.

I am definitely going to try those candies! I've been putting it on my toast in the morning. Yum!

The dogs haven't had any stomach upset from it. :)
