Eating habits

Postby PassionforPitBulls » Tue Jun 28, 2011 1:47 pm

My younger dog (the hound/pit) seems to rather eat her food here and there, but I feed her twice a day (morning and night) so I pick up her dish after giving her about an hour and a half to eat, yet I noticed if I give her meat or rice mixed with her food shell eat it completely.

Does anyone know anything healthy I can mix in her food to help her eat her breakfast/dinner, or anything else I can do to help her get more interested in eating her food?

Thank you.

Stop mixing stuff in there and make her eat the food you give her.

That'll do it

When she is hungry enough, she'll eat

rather than doing rice and meat...invest in a case of canned tripe, mix a teaspoon of that in there, and she will eat.

Or don't cater, I don't. I only give them fifteen minutes to eat, but my dogs eat raw. So, I usually only apply that rule when feeding kidney.

I would reduce the time you give her from 1.5 hours to 15 minutes. If it's not gone, it goes away until the next meal. Don't use add-ins in the mean time.

Is chicken broth okay to add to dog food? I've done that a couple times just because I had extra left over from chicken noodles or something.

Oh I know most of you mentioned not adding tastier things to the food, sometimes I just like to surprise them, because they don't have any problem eating, its usually got in 7 minutes!

We've added it to ours before. He loves it. Try and use low-sodium or all natural if you can. We like to give him some goodies once in a while as well, but if he starts to turn his nose up to his food, then it's just dry kibble for a while!

Just figured out that ours LOVES canned spinach. Lol. Who knew! He's never had it. I opened a can the other day and he was loving it.

Yeah lol It's more like slop. I had been wanting some spinach so I just grabbed a can. I liked it though.
