Canadian Pet Insurance

Does anybody have any health insurance for their dog? Does canada offer any good companies?

If any canadians on the board have pet insurance, can you tell me how happy you are with yours? Have you had to use it for extreme cases? Cancer treatment or major surgery?

How expensive is it? Is it worth getting?

I dont, I decided to put the money in the bank rather then take out insurance, if i just had one pet I probably would but for all 3 its over 50 bucks a month. Now they have a savings account

I have VetInsurance for my two dogs and one cat. However, I probably wouldn't recommend it. If you are able to pay slightly higher premiums I would look into Trupanion. They provide unlimited coverage after a deductible per illness. I'm not an expert but I do know people very pleased with it and they usually have super customer service so you can call or chat online with a representative if you go to their website.

Definitely Trupanion. I don't have insurance for my guys since I work at a vet clinic, but they are by FAR the easiest company to work with, have fewer hoops to jump through and are just a good overall company.

Trupanion? Ok thanks. I'll definitely look into it. Finn's getting older so I have been thinking of finding something to help us just incase he *god forbid* needs something major done.

Look in to it sooner rather than later. Even Trupanion wont cover any pre-exisiting conditions.
