Buddy needs good vibes please!

Much better thanks for asking Culture results came back yesterday. Turns out it was just an E. coli bacteria. She's doing great on the antibiotics (not vomiting like she often does!) and her lameness has also completely resolved.

It's funny, whenever she recovers from an issue like this, it's like she drops 10 years off her life. Last night she was zooming around the backyard and she was so bouncy, that when my neice and nephew came over for a visit, I had to crate her so she didn't knock them over!

Now however, Obi's eye is messed up. I don't know what's going on but it's droopy and red. He looks like a dg with Horner's syndrome. So now he gets to come to work with me today. I'm hoping that it's just an infection but there's no green discharge, just a droopy eye.

Hoping this is the last of my kids getting sick for awhile!

Ugh I was right. Obi has idiopathic Horner's sydrome. Thankfully, it isn't painful and only needs to be treated if and when he loses the ability to blink properly.

According to our optho specialist, 90% of dogs with Horner's are middle aged golden retrievers. Obi is a four year old boxer mix. Ugh.

It doesn't seem to be bothering I'm at all but he looks like a stroke victim. I will post a picture when I get home.

Oh poor Obi! That looks icky. I'm glad to hear it probably doesn't bother him too much though.

Poor Obi! Do you give him artificial tears, it seems like his eye will get all dried out? My late boxer was always getting corneal ulcers, I had to give her artificial tears a couple of times a day.

Only if we need to. This is the first time that this happened and although his eye looks terrible, he did still have motor control and could blink.

Whenever this flares up, we have to check and make sure he can blink. If not, then we will have to do artificial tears. Bless his heart, he is SO good when I have to give him eye meds but I know he hates it so much. So here's hoping that the Horner's never gets that bad!
