Chopper Neutered : or was he? ha

Ok, dog balls, penis, balls. let's get those awkward words out there and laugh because that's all this post is about

Chopper was neutered Monday morning (WHOO HOO!) and he's doing great, up running around and doesn't hate me anymore. The obvious first thing I noticed when I got him home was he still had his balls. shocker. Like right between his penis and sack, there's the incision and he still has his hanging bag of awesomeness...but instead of having two obvious members, it's like a mass of sponge if i'm making sense?

I'll post a picture tonight if anyone is interested...

Anyway, this has to be the most graphic post i've ever put on here, and i can't wait to see what type of triggers this pops up from doing it at work

That's normal, it's swelling, it will go down in a week or two and he will be left only with a small coin purse thingy between his legs

It's normal for the sack to still be there looking full. I've seen it take anywhere from a few weeks, to a yr for it to shrink up. I've seen some dogs whose balls never shriveled up after being neutered.

Good to hear It's been a long time since i've had a male that was neutered, Brody was neutered about 4 1/2 years ago and I don't ever remember his being visible after the fact.

Unless the vet cuts away that extra skin. Jaka was neutered as an adult (2+ years old) and he has no leftovers.. My foster Gucci is the same, neutered at 6 years old and no skin flap, the vet decided to cut everything off.

I remember when Louie was done at 6 months old. It looked like they cut him open, but forgot to take out the nuggets. The swelling went away fairly quickly - but I did do a double take when I inspected him after the surgery.

I once asked my vet about cutting off the sack for an adult with the big ol' flap. His face kinda turned white and he said he doesn't do that because it's too sensitive of an area. I almost laughed at his thinly veiled horror.

we'll see how it turns out for ol' Chopper. At lunch when I took him out to go to the bathroom, he was still leaving 4 paw prints and a straight line track behind him, so as of now he still has something to be "proud" of LOLOL

B has a serious coin purse. He is manly enough to pull it off.

The swelling will definitely subside over time; then he will just have the skin flap. I think it has maaayyybbbeee gotten a little bit smaller over the years but not much.

A lot of vets don't opt to do that scrotal ablation just because it creates more sutures, more mess, more healing. Don't worry, your coin purse should shrink up in no time! :P If its a puppy and theyre done pre-scrotal, they go right into the sack and then they end up with literally nothing left behind...my pup who was neutered YOUNG (worked at the clinic so we went way early) is smooth as can be in between the thighs. However, my 3 year old rescue who was just recently neutered was pre-scrotal (as are many of them with the big knockers) and I will be all too happy when that skin flap shrinks into oblivion as well.
