Help....sick puppy

If this cath fails I am going to have them put her to sleep. This poor baby can just handle so much crap. The final bill with be in excess of 6000 since they need a surgeon to try and fix the jug cath. I feel so goddamn bad right now.
I am so glad that I did not ask for the name of her breeder.

What does she need that ONLY a jugular catheter can provide? What about peripheral veins, or an intraosseous catheter? Blood transfusions, plasma transfusions, dextrose and pain medications are all safe to be given through these other catheter choices.

It just seems like overkill when less expensive options are available and you've reached the point of mortgaging your home to do this...

Sadie is doing better today. She is pooping tons of dead worms. Doc thinks that her parasite load was so high that they caused a partial blockage causing this whole mess. Who knows?
Anyway her red and white blood cells have returned to normal as did her glucose. She is still having protein infusions.

Misskiwi....I am not sure but maybe they had to use a jug catheter because her veins were all collapsed?

My job used to be to treat sick pups at a shelter...I'd have 30+ parvo/coccidia/giardia babies at one time--sounds like Sadie's getting the best care available So sorry you're having to go through all of this emotional and financial strain. Keep us updated.

YAY!! Tears of joy!! Gosh darn puppies scaring the heck out of everyone. I hope Sadie will be all good and no other health problems and live a long and happy life.

My husband is going to get her tonight. He will probably stay overnight since it takes over 5 hours to get there. I can't wait to see her. Thanks for all the well wishes. I will post photos soon.
