Spay question

When females are "fixed" are their reproductive organs removed? Clearly with males I can see that they are, but with females I wondered if it was similar to a woman having her tubes tied.

I think that if their tubes were just tied and everything left intact - they would still go into heat - just not drop any eggs, correct?

What a pain in the buns that would be!
