Any tips?

I got my girls a soft e collar and it allowed them a little more freedom and comfort. I stuffed kongs with honest kitchen and then froze it and tossed it to Violet who managed okay while wearing the soft collar. It was a little tricky, but she managed.

Would a donut style collar work in your particular case? Violet MUCH preferred that over the e-collars. She didn't have any problems eating bones or kongs at all with the donut collar.

Unfortunately the injury is on the wrist of the front arm, would a soft cone allow the dog access to that?

I think it would depend on how determined your dog is. If you try it, do it with close supervision to see what they do. Then maybe switch to the hard cone while unsupervised just to be safe.

When my dog had her broken leg I went out and bought winter booties which kept her from chewing on her leg, I still had to keep my eyes on her but it helped a lot.

The donut did not help at all when Roscoe had his surgery on his front feet, so I wouldn't recommend that.

Patricia McConnell's dog Willie has had many issues this last year that have required him total rest. You might want to peruse her blog for some ideas on what she's done.

They are usually written within the lines of her posts.

Kidding. No tips but I'm sorry he's injured. Obi on bed rest is the worst Dino can definitely sympathize.

And thank you for all the tips. We're sticking with the hard cone and he's figuring (through frustration) out how to eat the bones and chew toys without his paws. He really is *such* a good boy.
