He just texted me. Said that other than the fact that it was the largest spleen he's ever seen her insides look good overall. No obvious cancer anywhere. I think I get to pick her up tomorrow. I hadn't thought much past today.

Thank you everyone, for your well wishes and your love. I appreciate it more than you can know.

Here's a more coherent update. I visited her this morning.

Spleen weighed 6 pounds. He said it did some weird thing he had never seen - it was coiled around itself like a snake. Did the initial incision and then had to increase it just to get it out. He said it was at least 4 feet long, maybe longer.

I can pick her up tomorrow.

Pathology should be back from the lab by Monday but he checked her liver, kidneys, lymph nodes and didn't see anything weird. He is thinking that it may be hemangiosarcoma, but if it is contained in the spleen, the prognosis is better. Still not good on top of the Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and the HIMA, but better.

She also received a full transfusion during and after the surgery.

I'm so glad that huge awful spleen is out of Booty. Continued good thoughts about the lab results. She sure is a strong girl! You both are.

Keep us updated.

Bootleg is home and resting comfortably. It's easier to be a pit ball without that big old belly.

She has angel wings on her side! If she curled up any tighter they'd make a heart!
