Is this normal?

Postby Brandon54 » Sat Jan 21, 2012 7:03 pm

This is Karma, she is 6 months old, she is a mix of Eng. Bulldog and APBT..Ever since I got her(4months ago), I noticed that when she sits, she always sit leaning to one side with her legs spread open. Just wanted to know if this was normal or what. She walk and run without any problems and very energetic.ImageImageImage

Probably. My OEB foster dog sits like that all the time.

My dog sits like that a lot, I don't think she likes putting her parts on the ground. roflmao

Your pup is adorable, by the way. What a mix!

That's exactly right. Plus outside ground can be too warm or cold to just lay their "parts" on

If she's only ever leaning to that one side, it might mean a hip issue or something. If she alternates at all, I'd guess it's nothing to worry about and more comfortable than upright. Both my dogs will sit that way when sitting on their own, but sit more formally when cued to do so.

Puppies in particular tend to sit that way. I wouldn't worry about it.

We call our female a less than nice name for a female because she sits like that all the time. lol

She switches it up, but only sits 'normal' if cued to sit. Otherwise she's a slouch with her legs spread open. She's also the only dog I know who makes it a point to sit right on her butt, with her other parts nowhere near the ground. It looks so awkward, and she always backs into something so she can do a lazy sit and prop herself up. She's checked out fine and has no structural problems - she's just lazy and comfy!

And your dog is CUUUUTE. :inlove: Love her!

I appreciate all the replies. She is mixed Eng. Bulldog and APBT. Unfortunately, I she hasnt been eating and drinking the past couple of days so I brought her to the vet. The vet tested her and I found out she has the Parvovirus disease, and he told me that she only has about 3 days to live. :crybaby:

One of a bunch of threads on here about parvo. Some dogs can pull through. I hope you are able to get her treatment. You might want to start a new thread asking for parvo advice. There are things that can be done to help.

The dog in my avatar had parvo as a puppy. She is going to be six years old this summer. They can pull through with IV fluids and aggressive treatment. If your vet is telling you she only has three days to live I'd get her to another vet ASAP. The prognosis isn't great, but you need a vet that can be a little more hopeful.
