My Puppy has Parvo...

Unfortunately, today I found out that my 7 month old puppy has the Parvovirus. For the past 2 days she hasn't been eating or drinking so today I finally brought her to the vet. He ran some test and he told me the bad news (that she have 3 days to live). He gave her some antibiotics, and told me all I can do is try to keep her hydrated with Pedialyte and keep her warm. I'm going to keep y'all updated on how everything is going. This sucks!

I would find a better vet immediately. I've not dealt with parvo myself but getting the proper supportive care for a dog with parvo is paramount in beating it - you need to keep her hydrated and rarely can dog affected by parvo DRINK enough fluids because of the diarrhea and vomiting - you need iv/sub-q fluids.

get that pup to another vet immediatley, many pups survive parvo if treated in time
has the pup had any parvo vaccinations ?
read this sticky and start immediatley, it is going to be a fight but you still have a chance to save that puppy if you get on it immediately

Wow...that's ridiculous. I definitely agree, you need to find another vet. Your puppy needs to be hospitalized so that she can be monitored and get the fluids and medicines that she needs. The sooner you get her treated, the better her chances of recovering.

"The dog in my avatar had parvo as a puppy. She is going to be six years old this summer. They can pull through with IV fluids and aggressive treatment. If your vet is telling you she only has three days to live I'd get her to another vet ASAP. The prognosis isn't great, but you need a vet that can be a little more hopeful."

jesus christ what a lazy MFer. there is a TON more a vet can do for parvo, and parvo is NOT a death sentence. 3 days to live is hogwash. GET A NEW VET WHO WILL SAVE YOUR PUPPY

Just wanted inform y'all that Karma died today at the vet. I brought her early this morning before I went to school and around 1pm I got a call that she had died. I still dont get how my puppy in really good health updated on her vaccines get Parvo, while we have people in this area that barely even feed their dogs, never seen a vet, and fighting them live a long life. This really pisses me off. I appreciate all the help and support though.
