Sending Bean well wishes - our Trusty had it about three years ago - it was tough going there for a while, but he pulled through - and I am sure Bean will as well!
So we are thinking we are on the mend. Ate and drank with no vomiting so far. Last diarrhea was 5am, pulled cath so stopped fluids and iv meds.....god I hope this is it. I lost his brother 3 yrs ago to pancreatitis and acute liver failure and thats all I've been thinking about. I also have convinced myself his mast cell has gone to his pancreas...... Not a rational thought, I should know better, BUT doesnt help.
Come on Bean, you can do it boy. One of my dogs had an attack of pancreatitis, and once stable never suffered from it again for the rest of her life,I'm hoping for the same for Bean.
Extra Fat consumption is the usual suspect but a lot of times you have no idea. Bean hasnt had one thing out of the ordinary in his diet so that is not his deal. You can also get pancreatitis secondary to liver failure and I have seen it in dogs secondary to a splenic mass and liver masses.
I am sure dogs can get cancer in their pancreas thus causing pancreatitis but it is highly unlikely mct would cause it. I am one to jump to worst case scenario on my dogs and we just removed a mct off him in December so I Had convinced myself it had meted to his pancreas. Highly unlikely.
We are feeding a low fat diet right now and will switch back in a week or so.
