This is very common, we see a case about every other week at the ER.
Some dogs just need time and TLC, other dogs need hospitalized for padded walls and hand-feeding for a few days. I always recommend giving them at least 2-3 days before becoming concerned about quality of life because 98% of them will resolve on their own with nothing more than supportive care.
