That's how I feel too, plus if I pill them and they do manage to spit it out, I have to do it again with a slobbery pill. I wonder what else might work that would be better for her than cream cheese, not peanut butter obviously, hmm, well there is low fat cream cheese, or low fat ricotta cheese maybe?

Even if she was only getting one pill and it was temporary I wouldn't force her. I'd rather make it a pleasant experience seeing as she's on a half dozen meds two-three times per day.

We do this with Bailey :dunno:

It doesn't feel like we're forcing her because we're not man handling her or being rough. She's a champ at it, and otherwise we wouldn't get her to take the pills...no matter what we put them in, she'll spit the pill back out. Trooper however, sometimes we can trick into just eating the pill-especially if we toss it to him. Otherwise he usually has it hidden in some thing.

I don't have a problem using pill pockets. Buddy has next to no teeth and if pills aren't hidden in something such as a pill pocket, she is quite good at hiding them in her empty cheek pocket.

She's also a very sensitive dog an any type of "force" perceived by us or not, causes her needless distress.

I find lean treats, sold by Butler through vet clinics, work just as well as pill pockets at third the cost. Something to maybe try and low fat for those pissy pancreases

If you have a Butler Schein rep you should be able to. Great training treats too, 1 kcal per treat and they can be broken into four pieces.
