Deno's Spine?

I came home and found Deno hunched, trembling and unable to move.. but still wagging his tail, of course. When he tried to move, he yelped in pain. I have never seen him like this... he is always running for his ball when I get home... prancing around and just happy to see me.

I immediately took him in.. they did bloodwork and spinal xrays. We dont get the results until tomorrow.. for now he is on pain meds and muscle relaxers. He's home now - drunk off the pain injection and still recovering from anesthesia.. eyes rolled back, tongue out.

Doc says it could be related to his spondylosis.

Keep the poor guy in your thoughts, hoping for positive results tomorrow!

Oh noes... Deno, that is NOT what we want to hear! Keep us posted -- I was just thinking about you guys the other day!! Ruby has new spondylosis evidence per recent x-rays and we just built a ramp for our bed that I still need to cover with carpet but so far, she is asymptomatic. Think about a buying/making a ramp...if the inflammation doesn't settle down?

Awww poor Deno! Most of the dogs with back issues that come to our clinic are well controlled with meds just as needed.

Obi has cauda equina syndrome and sends his wishes for a speedy recovery to Deno!

Degeneration along spine, cervical, thoracic & lumbar. Hips are a little abnormal-- but doc doesn't think they would have caused the amount of pain he had been in. Knee joints are normal. Blood work came back good. He wants me continue with the medication to see how he is in a few days. If nothing changes then he suggests seeing a neurologists for an MRI.

I came home to a happy dog yesterday.. Running to find his ball for me. He had busted through the baby gate and made his way to the couch... He seems to be fine now!! But I still have him on all 3 meds.

Assuming the spondylosis is the cause of his pain.. Then I imagine its something we will have to deal with from here on out.
I'm suppose to give the doc an update next week, so ill see what he has to say.. But I want to look in other pain management options... He is only 7 so I'd rather not go the pill route. I was told acupuncture could possibly help.

Poor baby boy. Im glad hes feeling better atleast. Hopefully you can easily manage it with some pain management, I really dont any advice on the point though. But you guys are in my thoughts and I hope Deno continues to be his happy self.
