Busted Tail Tip

So Brina somehow managed to injure her tail. I have no idea how, because she's never been huge on tail wagging, plus she hasn't been crated for at least a couple of months now and I know smacking the tail against the wire crate is the most common cause of happy tail. So I don't know what she did to bust the tip of her tail open. But she did it. And we have to deal with it now. It's always something with this dog..

I'd love to spare her the stress of another vet visit so I'm hoping to take care of this on my own. If it gets worse, off to the vet we go, but so far it doesn't look infected and it doesn't seem to cause her pain. Here it is:

I've been disinfecting it with Iodine solution, putting Bepanthene cream on it and bandaging it twice a day, when we wake up and before we go to bed. Is there anything else I can do? Should I shave a part of the tail? So far I've just cut the hair around the wound.

Thanks for any advice you can give me, I've never dealt with happy tail before.

Can't offer advice other than keeping it clean and using antibacterial cream. Poor girl, hope it heals quickly

Thanks everybody. Yeah it doesn't look good, but it's healing and it doesn't look infected so that's good.
