That depends on your vet, really, and what they're comfortable doing. I think 7 months is too old.

I doubt you will find anyone who will perform an ear crop at that late age. The latest I've heard of is 6 months and I am of the opinion that it shouldn't be done so late in life.

The picture wouldn't come up for me...

Anyway, I would say yes, he is too old. Why do you want to crop them?

I have always know it to be too old. A while back, someone was mentioning that their vet liked to wait and do it later. Something about cartlidge forming and getting better results...wish I could remember.

I was under the impression that cropping was done between 3 and 5 months so the cartilage was still not completely set yet. After that it was pointless since it was in the shape it would be for life. I would say 6 months is too old.

Can't see the pic. But 7 months is a little to old for cropping. Most vets will not do it any later than 6 months old.

I am going to see my vet today for my pup's first visit. I asked him on the phone this week at what age he does the ear crop and he said between 9 and 15 pounds for pits.

I will ask him about your question, If I knew the weight it would help, but im leaving in a half hour.

I did some research on cropping and my vet and luckily he's one of the best in my state, and people travel from all over to have him work his magic on their pups.

my first pit had floppies so this time i wanted doritto ears like my 2nd.

I like both looks, but the crop gives the head a nice look. IMO

i'll post back later today.

ok, i talked with my vet and he says he stands by his weight requirement. Between 9-15 lbs.

He said you can do it later, but he wont. Up to 20ish pounds would be his absolute limit.

Only because he is a perfectionist and his ears are his calling cards, so if he does do it, its on his terms.

hope i helped
