Bleedin' Gums

Our pup, Dusty, is about 5 months old, and his teeth are starting to fall out--I reckon he'll grow new ones, as nature tends to compensate for our losses...
anyway, he loves tug-o-war, but we're afraid of making him bleed. (it's not just a little blood either, it gushes all nasty-like)
We have given him ice cubes, anything else we can do for him?

What are you using for a tug? Jute, fire hose, rope or cloth is very bad for a puppy's teeth and gums. I would give your dog a break on tug for a few days and when you resume, use a leather or linen puppy rag. They're designed to be easy on the gums. Here's a link:
