Bullysticks?

Postby NYBullylover » Fri Jan 13, 2006 10:29 pm

I Havd Been Giving LADY Red Barn Bullysticks For A Few Months Now. The Pet Shop Owner Told Me Im Doing A Bad Thing By Giving A 4 Month Old Pup Bullysticks, Is This True? Are They Safe? And Are They Healthy?

the guy at my pet store reccomends Bull Pizzle not bullysticks... bull pizzle is just the meat ligament from a cows arm.. so.. when he chews it turns soft and meaty.

A bull pizzle is a bull penis, if I'm not mistaken, which is the same thing as a bully stick.

I've been giving Bella bully sticks since she was 3 months old. She gets maybe one a month. She's never had any problems (I'm not saying that it couldn't happen!), and they're much more digestable than rawhides. Just make sure you supervise your pup when she's chewing a bully stick. Don't let her swallow a huge chunk.

Ha! Hours of entertainment? I tried to give Keely one to keep her busy while company was over, and it lasted exactly three chomps. Of course, This is the same dog who eats cow hooves in five minutes, too. I suppose she's a heavy-duty chewer.

Why don't you want to give them to her now that you know what they are? I think they're hilarious, myself. :) They're dried and smoked, so there's really nothing "icky" about them. Now rawhides are icky!!

A 9 inch bully stick lasts Bella about a half hour. I wish they lasted longer because they're kind of expensive in the pet stores.

yep they are penises for sure.
I was at the feed store years ago when they first got an order of them in, it was right on the display box, "bull's dicks", guess they got a lot of protest on the graphic wording and changed it to bully sticks. lol
