Anybody switch to Wellness from a different food?

I decided to try Wellness after hearing so many good things about it...it looks like Vicki might have had an allergic reaction to Canidae. Whenever I've switched her food previously, I never had to gradually do it...she never got the runs or anything. If you switched to Wellness from something else, did you do it cold turkey or gradually. How did it go?

we started with pro plan and now are on scientific diet and just bought wellness (it was tough to find around here) we will be switching when he has about 20% left of the current food...he hasnt had any problems as of yet switching foods but he is awfully picky and doesnt get excited at meal times...i have to put cheese and cold cuts in his bowl to get him to eat....i'll let you know how it goes once we get him on the wellness full time. ideally i want to get canidiae but its so hard to find around here. :dunno:

we will probably have to go to that place xgirl recommended

I'm in the process of switching Daisy over to Wellness from Innova just because I don't want to have run out of both foods at once and pony up 80.00 bucks just for that. She hasn't had the slightest issue and she's on about 1/2 and 1/2 now. Doc was switched to Wellness first to weed out whatever is giving him the runs. It has barely helped and I chalk at least part of that to putting them back on a morn/night feeding plan.

As I recall, we switched them more or less cold turkey. I always try to mix in the old food with the new, but then my picky eater decides she's only going to eat ONE brand, so it never really works out that way.

Didn't have any problems with it, either, but I switched from Nutro which was giving her diarrhea, so, well, anything would have been an improvement, most likely.

No problem!

I remember reading that when switching from low quality to high quality food, doing it gradually is not necessary.(I think Pat a/k/a Barponys said it on another thread about food.) I would think switching from high to high wouldn't require it either but that's just a guess.

Well...I'm just gonna try it cold turkey. One thing I noticed...on the back of
bag it says that 1 cup equals 4 ounces :huh?:

Yeah, it's one cup by volume, which if you fill a measuring cup and weigh it, does turn out to be four ounces.

I think they just put it there so that people won't assume that it's eight ounces and drastically overfeed their dogs. That old "what weighs more, a pound of lead or a pound of feathers" thing. lol

No, I'm saying that a one cup measuring cup holds four ounces of Wellness, though it holds eight ounces of water.

And that sometimes people think that one cup = eight ounces, even though water and kibble may be drastically different in weight but the same in volume.

Yeah, exactly! Just use a standard measuring cup from a set. Wellness doesn't use a different size cup or anything. I guess they just specify it on the bag in case you weigh your dog's food. :dunno:

i did it gradually with rod. i waited till i was close to the end of my IAMs then mixed in the wellness like 1/3 i guess then half then all. i didnt do it that long just long enough so that i wasn't squeegying rods BM's of the pavement :thumbsup:

. i live in the city so i didnt want a grafhitti(sp?) artist on my hands
