whats the strangest thing you have fed your dog?

Postby amelie » Sat Sep 02, 2006 12:53 am

the strangest thing i have fed our dogs is now whale. yeah whale like in the ocean. the other day my boyfriend brought home a few chunks of whale fat/skin that he got from a native friend of his. it had been freezerburnt so the people were going to throw it out. the dogs loved it and it took them quite a while to chew it up, and none of them even got the runs. i swear these dogs must have cast iron stomachs.

Kind of off topic, but is freezer burned meat OK for dogs? I've got some chickem that is freezer burnt and have been wondering about the advisability of feeding it to the dogs?

There's nothing wrong with it. Freezer burn is just ice on the meat, it's fine.

And eeeew whale! I don't have any weird foods to add but eewww.

I haven't really fed the dogs anything wierd...well we feed them raw which the general public thinks is wierd but thats it.

Matt is going Goose hunting this week so hopefully they'll have goose soon!

We feed raw and people often think that is strange until you explain the concept, but as part of that we feed green tripe which smells really bad and looks awful.

We got a free bag o' goat organs at the last Raw co-op pick up so the furmonkeys had goat lungs! They were really cool looking.

Most other "strange" things are perfectly normal around here like green tripe, hearts of various animals, feet, etc, etc.
