Best raw/BARF book?

Postby PineysMom » Fri Sep 15, 2006 9:05 pm

I did a search, I swear I did, and it didn't totally answer my question (granted I didn't read every single post the search brought up, but there were so many!).

I'm thinking of switching my chronically ill Piney to raw, at least for one meal a day. I want a book that will give me some good, commonsense guidelines for healthy/balanced raw/BARF feeding. What's the best one? I don't want to buy like 3 or 4 books. Ideally I'd like to buy one then experiment from there.

I liked Raw Dog Food by Carina Beth MacDonald. I'd also do some more research in addition to that one, but I thought she did a good job of making it simple, troubleshooting common problems, and including sample feeding schedules. It's a good one for someone who is thinking about raw feeding, IMO.

BTW, last I knew, the author of that book was often on the dogwise forums (not sure if I'm allowed to say that? i apologize if it is against the rules). She was very helpful and emailed me back when I had questions for her.

You can download Tom Lonsdale's books for free at rawmeaty bones.com

- Raw Meaty Bones
- Work Wonders

Those are the 2 I recommend.
