Ouch! If you have any Arnica (or Traumeel) on hand Sam, I would give him some. Granger and Fletcher send some kisses to make him feel better.

I was thinking this sounded like von Willebrands. It is not unusual n this breed, though the test we have for it currently (Elissa?) is not very accurate. There is a DNA test for some breeds, like dobes, but they don't have the samples from apbt that they need to establish a frame of reference, or however they do it. At any rate, I don't blame the poor baby for crying.

I think you mean ELISA, an antibody test usually done on the blood.

I had never heard of this disease before. I just found this link, interesting stuff: http://www.btca.com/Health/articles/vonwillebrands.htm

Quiggley just had blood taken for a panel that tests for a variety of different blood disorders, as well as a broad spectrum overall health test.

He is feeling great, still doesn't look pretty but he has no idea :)) Still wants to have his nightly zoomy fit with my dogs, and doesn't understand why I won't let him. His swelling has gone down to about half of what is shown in the previous picture!

Never show that picture to a man who doesn't want to neuter his dog, promise me! lol

Seriously though...that poor, poor dog. Is he on pain meds??? I hope he recovers soon.

Wow that really is brutal. When my dog got out of the vet from being neutered he looked like straight chocolate...I felt SO bad for him I was actually mad at myself for getting it done (even tho I knew I had to). But Quiggley's underside looks bad. Hope he's doing better.

Quiggley is healing great. They now look more like prunes, rather than plums. He has no idea he looks a bit scandalous, and is feeling just fine. All his blood tests came back completely normal!!!!!! :))

here are some pics of him feeling better:

Great pics, I am so glad he's feeling better! I'm like you, I'd have freaked totally out to see that mess!
I'm also relieved he does not have a blood disease!
One of our foster boys got neutered last fall and got some huge infection down in the neuter incision, had to have drains, antibiotics, the whole shebang. I was so freaked out but he healed up really well.

I'm glad he's feeling better.

No blood disorder then? Do the vets know what caused the swelling?
