The old man made it

Postby Red » Fri Dec 01, 2006 1:45 am

My old man Toby got out of surgery just fine today. He is going to be 17 at the end of this year so put him under a major concern for me.I asked to use Isoflurane and he had bloodwork done prior the surgery but he is still so old that I was worried.
He needed two tumors removed and since he was under I had a detal done.
One tumor under his armpit was as big as a tennis ball. The other one much smaller, on his belly. The tumors were checked for the past three years and the vet suggested not to removed them since they were basicallt fatty cysts. But one had grown too much in the past three months and I decided to take it off.He had to have a lot of staples on one of them, because of how deep they had to cut him.He is not using his leg now and hopefully his muscle tissues are okey.Poor lil guy, tomorrow will be tough for him.

He is resting in his crate now.

Oh wow, he sure is a cutie. I didn't realize he was 17, that's incredible! I hope he recovers very quickly.

Aww poor Toby. Glad surgery went well, despite looking very painful. Give him a smooch from me for a speedy recovery. :)

Holy smokes! I hope he recovers nicely. We had a 14 yr old Weim that was so full of fatty tumors that she looked like a bag of golf balls.

Honestly I don't know since this dog was my family dog untill I took him in the States with me, 5 years ago.Prior that he was fed Pedigree, Purina and table scraps.Since he got to live with me his diet has completely changed so I am guessing he made it to this age because of quality food and a good life.
Or maybe he is just lucky!
Thanks for the wishes of good recovery.I went to get some pain killers and antibiotics today and he seems to be doing okey.He walked a bit and looked to hang out with bad boy Tux. :)

No, Tux is not anticipating a meal, he was just done drinking some water! lol

Awww! That first photo of him all tucked up in his fleecy blanket just looks so impossibly sweet. What a beautiful dog! :)

Give him a hug for me, please!
