Cropped or Not?

Postby Shes Got Heart » Wed Jan 17, 2007 10:26 pm

Hello! I just joined earlier tonight. I posted an intro thread about my new puppy. She is 2 weeks old currently so I'm waiting to bring her home. I am trying to decide if I should have her ears cropped or not. I would like to get some opinions on the subject. I originally just planned on not cropping. But a friend of mine got her dog with it's ears "show cropped" and thinks cropping is the way to go. So now I can't decide what would look best. I do like my puppies ears color's though!

Lets see a pic, please? I say no, save the money for something more beneficial like some fun obedience training or agility. If you are not going to show her, than what is the benefit? Very personal decision, but entirely up to you. She is so little...2 wks old....tiny pup.

My dogs ears are my favorite part. I love how expressive they are and how they flop when they run, or get all crazy when they get amped up. Pit Bulls have perfect ears, why mess with perfection?

Yes please chop off your dog's ears for no real purpose than to please you.

There is a HUGE debate already about whether to crop or not. Might want to check that out.

i say no crop. i have two pit bull rescues with cropped ears and one rescue with full ear and the ears are so fun to read the dog and know immediately how they are feeling.
and dont you want a pic like this?

you are going to get as many opinions as there are members on this subject. Cropping unless you are showing your dog is really a personal preference. If you like the look then crop, if you are okay with natural ears then leave them and spare the pup unnecessary cosmetic surgery.

This is the only really good pic I have of her at the moment and she was 2 days old here! The first day I saw her.

Well said!

It's YOUR choice. Do it if you want to, don't do it because some forum buddies told you to!

propaganda! Please stop spreading these lies. Cropped ears are just as expressive as natural ears. there is much more to dog body language than ear expression.
