Holy crap thats a long list. Any reports on what caused this yet, or what ingredient is the problem?

From what I understand, it's only the moist varieties, so wheat gluten makes sense. Us CRAZY vegetarians use wheat gluten to make seitan, and it looks EXACTLY like the "meat" chunks in a lot of commercial pet foods. I'd guess that most of them use that as the base, and just flavor it with meat by-products.

Well, if they're using meat-type things to flavor it, it probably TASTES meaty, and the consistency of seitan is very meat-like... so I'm sure peoples' pets don't really know the difference if that's all they've ever had.

This is what it looks like plain:

Dog food, right?

(It's actually really high in protein and can be made to taste like whatever you make it with. I love the stuff!)

I eat wheat gluten all the time. It's basically a specific type of wheat flour. We make seitan by adding vegetable broth and seasonings.

The picture is random from google. Sometime when we make it, I'll post a picture of what OUR meals look like.

No, it's pretty meat-like. Like chicken.

Ive been using canidae lately and plan to stick with it. Never hear about any big issues like this with a food like canidae.

Glutens can definitely cause problems.
