KadillacGrrl wrote:Purina, Alpo, Ole Roy etc.. not good. The smartest thing you can do when buying dog foods is read the ingredients. Meat, not corn, rice, beet pulp and other fillers should be the first ingredient. MEAT, not meal or meat by product.

This is the order of ingredients for the first few on the Kirkland Chicken & Rice formula

Chicken, chicken meal, whole grain brown rice, cracked pearled barley, chicken fat

Good advice.

I know you are confused, but if you can learn to read ingredients you can make an educated decision yourself. I recommend reading www.dogfoodproject.com

I just switched to canidae from diamond, I finally found a place that carries it here.

:peace: :peace:

I REALLY LIKE CANIDAE.

The first dog food that I ever bought that came with a brochure, :)

I compared the feeding guidelines between canidae and a couple of the wal mart foods........pedigree, dog chow, ol roy........ canidae for my dogs 2-3 cups per day, the others 4-6 cups per day,
canidae.......about 30$ with tax 40lb bag
Pedigree........about 19$ with tax 35 and 40lb bags
so I'm feeding a much MUCH better food and actually saving money.
