i think my dog has parvo :(

Postby bigmacbubba » Thu Apr 10, 2008 10:34 pm

well my 7 month old male has been throwing up and having diareah for the past 4 days. i thought it might have been just something that i gave him. i give him leftovers sometimes. well after doing some research im beginning to think he has parvo except there is no blood in the feces. but it does smell really bad. can parvo just "go away". he did eat a little bit tonight so hes not completely lethargic and he doesnt seem depressed like i read. i was just playing with him a minute ago. should i just go ahead and take him to my vet to be on the safe side?

Yes take him in the AM.
Did you get him at least 3 puppy shots when he was a baby???

Yes, take him to the vet. Even if it isn't Parvo, he may be dehydrated and need fluids.

Take him to the vet as soon as possible.

Has he had his vacc.?
Have you changed his food lately?
Any chance he got in to something he shouldn't have?
Have you tried a bland diet? boiled chicken/rice, cooked ground beef/rice.
And a littel Imodium will help as well.

Hope your little guy feels better soon...

We need to make a sticky for "Does my dog have parvo" and what to do if you SUSPECT it.
Step one would, of course, be to bring them to the vet AT ONCE, even an e-vet for instance, on the weekend, and get a diagnosis.
The only way to get a pup or dog survive this illness is by beginning treatment immediately, not waiting to see if it is going to get worse :(

TAKE THAT BABY TO THE VET!!! Me being a "worry wart" mom, if i see any sign of puking i call the vet... even if it's not parvo, if he's been sick for four days he needs medical attention.. rather safe than sorry
