not really eating.

Postby pinsent » Tue May 27, 2008 9:12 pm

ok, i think i know why but thought id post it to get some other opinions.

titan is being fed evo redmeat, which when we got it, he loved it, now not so much.
i know he is hungry cause if we are eating we will wait till we are done and put his food down, but he doesn't eat it. might go back a few times for nibbles if we forget to take it up.
and i know he will eat cause if im eating anything he wants it. and as a test i gave him some (red meat). ate it no trouble.
i mixed something with his food and he ate all of it no trouble.
he is still drinking fine, playing fine, just as hyper as always.

is it cause we are giving him a few other things like veggies, fruits, things we know he isnt allergic to? is this why, could he be holding out for something better.
today all i got him to eat is the 1 cup. still better then 1 cup of crap food but still its only 1.
should i try and feed him lunch tomorrow when i get home from work and then again if he doesn't eat at supper time? if not. let him starve till next evening?

any thoughts?

Some dogs just aren't very good eaters. Feed him something different... there are lots of foods equally as good as what you are feeding that might be more appetizing.

My parents shephard almost starved (went from 90 pounds to 64) before they finally found a food (regular innova, nearly 600 calories per cup) that he would eat enough of to meet his daily caloric needs. He still eats hardly anything, but at least he's maintaining his weight at a skinny but acceptable 75 pounds.

Are you feeding him table food? If you are that could be a big problem!

nope, scatter time when i make a turkey sadwich or something i'll toss him a few pieces of tomato in his bowl, but not even really that often.
maybe once a week.
