UTI treatment questions

Postby PitFriend » Thu Jul 10, 2008 6:44 pm

K, I did a search and saw mention of treating UTIs with cranberry. But it didn't say in what form. I don't often see fresh cranberries in produce sections, so is canned cranberry ok? Just mix some with food? What about 100% cranberry juice?

Also, does anyone have experience with using echinacea to treat UTIs in dogs? Is it effective? How much and for how long could I give it (for a 60 lb dog), and is it ok to give concurrently with antibiotics?

I would get the cranberry gel caps and put it in the food. It'd be more concentrated and you could get it down them easier. I doubt it would give them the runs, either, like canned cranberry might.

How about vinegar? Either acv or distilled, I just read recently that it helps UTIs too.

Ah, didn't think of that, thanks!
