Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Looking to adopt in Maryland

Postby purpledoggy » Wed Mar 25, 2009 7:02 am

Hi, I'm looking to adopt a dog in the Baltimore, Maryland area. Age is not important but they must get along with cats and young children since I have a one year old daughter and 3 year old cat. I would like to adopt local since I want to meet our prospective new family member. :)

Check out Adopt-a-Homeless-Animal (AAHA) in Baltimore. We fostered for them and think they are an excellent, responsible rescue. You could try foster-to-adopt to make sure the dog is a good match for you. Check out Lady on their petfinder list, she might have the qualities you're looking for.

Good luck! There are lots of great pits in Baltimore that need good homes...

I have met purpledoggy and her family, and I do think they'll provide a great home for the right dog!

Unfortunately, Button's probably not quite the one right now.

My fiance and I are currently fostering Bronco. He's a pitbull/great dane mix and was actually born in the shelter. He's about 5 months old now and VERY energetic. He plays really well with our small daschund as well as my 3 year old neice who comes to visit often.

We're fostering through Odessa Second Chance Rescue and Rehabilitation(http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/VA440.html).

We live in Frederick County if you'd like to come meet him - just let me know!

Thank you for telling me about Bronco. I think a great dane mix might be larger then what we are looking for though.
