Texas puppy needs new home

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Texas puppy needs new home

Postby Night » Thu Jun 11, 2009 9:23 am

The kids brought home this pup with demodex mange and worms. We are getting her treated and she's had her first round of shots.

I've already got people freaking over 'that vicious pit bull' even though she's been nothing but a sweet, silly pup and we don't even know what she is.

Any idea what she is? How should we go about finding a new home for her?

Because there isn't really anything but the leash to judge size by thats tough, but since i can see needle teeth im guessing she's pretty young, If I had to hazard a guess just judging by what i see I would say American bulldog/APBT, or maybe APBT/boxer, Contrary to popular belief Black and super dark Brindles are becoming more and more common in the AMBulldog world. Either way no matter what she is she's a beauty!!

Thanks. She's a hoot. Walks on a leash pretty good too. She's not very big at all...I'll see if I can figure out how big she is tomorrow.

Yeah...her eyes are further back, to the sides of her head and she has that snub nose.
Very different...

She's a couple inches taller than a magazine (a paper one! lol ) at the top of the shoulder and about two magazines long when she stretches out. I hope that helps with the size thing...

You want to see if you can work with a local rescue in your area. Since you are committed to her most rescues would probably help you out. You'll probably have to train her and take her to adoption events. You can look at reputable rescue sites for their adoption paper work if there is not a rescue in your area. Most have their adoption paper work right on line and that would give you a good idea of what to look for in a home if you have no rescues in your area. It's very nice of you to take her in and look for a reliable home for her. She looks like a ball of fire.

Her eyes definately look like Boston Terrier or Pug and her nose is on the shorter side so I'd say pit mixed with one of the two.

I saw some pit bull pups today and you're right - the face is really different. Still working on her training. And someone made a very good point that I should try and get her spayed before adopting her out. That will help stop the problem instead of just passing it on, you know? So I've got some places to call and see about a low cost spay.

Any idea how long until her hair grows back?

I'm SO happy you are going to get her spayed first. That really would be best.

You might want to post in the Health section about the mange/hair issue.

Sorry for taking so long to update...

She's been to the vet again, got more vaccines and is doing well. Still no word on a new home for her.

Here are some pictures from today.
