Meet Maggie in Philly

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Meet Maggie in Philly

Postby TofuKat » Mon Aug 24, 2009 9:15 pm

Hi, I'm posting this in an attempt to find a great home for my foster pit, Maggie. We're located in the Philly area, btw.

Maggie is a black with white female pit; 1 year old; totally housebroken. Her original owners lost their home and dropped her at the SPCA where there is a high kill rate. Two days later I took her as a foster dog and she's been with me for 5 weeks now.

I would love to keep her, but my lifestyle isn't conducive to full time dog ownership--this is why I foster! She's safe at the moment and won't go back to the SPCA, but I'd love to see her go to a family who will love her and make her part of the family.

Maggie is very calm indoors and is a laid back pit. She needs daily exercise to stay this way, but several walks during the day will do the trick. She's happiest with some time to run around in a fenced yard, though or a jog during the day will work too. She knows some basic commands (sit, stay, come, "good potty", "no jump") and is very keen on learning more. She's smart and is very trainable and incredibly polite (she's trained to not run you over on the stairs/doors/car, etc).

If you're interested at all or would like more info, feel free to email me anytime: amishpowerandlight@gmail.com

I'm not sure how to post pictures, but I have plenty that I can email to you if you'd like.
She would come with all of her gear, UTD, spayed, microchipped and is starting formal training classes until I get her adopted.

Thanks!

Do you have her listed for adoption on www.pbrc.net?

Good luck with Maggie. It sounds like you're doing a great job working with her until you find a home. She's lucky to have you. Looking forward to pics- black and white ones are super cute!

Just an update---

I have my fingers crossed, but I have a potential adopter interested in Maggie!!! From the pre-screening application he seems like a good home. I just got his information and have sent an email to reach out so he can meet Maggie (and be scrutinized by me!!).

I really hope he's as good in person as his pre-app sounds! My relationship with my boyfriend is suffering because he wants Maggie gone...

Update!---

Maggie is getting her forever home this coming Friday!! The adopters came to the house to meet her this afternoon and they were great. We're just waiting until Friday for her to go home so that they have the whole weekend to spend with her before work on Monday.

She'll have a backyard and a deck, plus her very own people!

On top of this, she just discovered squeak toys and loves her stuffing-less "roadkill" fox. :peace:
