Craigslist Made Me Do It

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Craigslist Made Me Do It

Postby BighornTermite » Sat Sep 05, 2009 5:00 pm

After reading post after post from Pima County Animal Control about all the dogs that have until Specific Date at 5:00p.m., and after figuring that I had the time, space, money and energy to do it, I "got pushed over the edge" :) and contacted a local rescue about fostering a dog. To keep my Zoey from being exposed to kennel cough (or, more likely, kennel snot), they transferred one of their fosters to me, which opened up a space for them to pull a dog from the E-list.

As a result, meet Harley...

Image

He's a year old, neutered, housebroken, and microchipped. He's also a big love bug. I keep trying to get a decent picture of standing up, but he's always too close. lol

Anyhow, just wanted to share. He's a real sweet guy, and it feels good to (indirectly) save a life.

Who are you fostering for in Tucson?

I lived down there for years and fostered and helped start a rescue down there myself. Good luck! Looks like he has made himself at home already.

Thanks, everybody. He IS a real cutie, and what a people person. I mean, Zoey is friendly towards people and stuff, but, well, even as I write this, Harley's got his head rested in my lap, while Zoey's fixated on the lizards in the back yard. (That pretty much sums up the personality difference.)

jtalt7, I went through Smiling Dog Rescue (which specializes in bully breeds), but several rescues--SDR, Cold Wet Noses, and PAKS--all get listed on the same craigslist posts when it comes to saving AC dogs, so I'm guessing they sort of work in conjunction with each other. (The post'll list the dogs, then say to contact one of the rescues listed below.)

Wow, those are all new names to me. Must be fairly new rescues, that town always has tons of rescues popping up.

Smiling dog rescue is a new name to me, they were not around when I was down there, we were atually the only game in town as far as bullies went! Good to know there are others helping pick up the slack on the bully population down there as it is large.

Good luck!
