Grandpa Joe is an odds-beater. He was originally surrendered to an Los Angeles shelter at the age of 13. Despite his age and shelter-overcrowding, they hung on to him for months and eventually found a group to take him in. He was placed up here in the bay area in what seemed to be a lovely home, but was recently found wandering the streets of Martinez covered in fleas and with collar-shaped hair loss around his neck. The adoptive family is no where to be found. I took him in when he ran out of time (the rescue down south was going to come up and get him but their only option was to board him.)
Anyway... Gramps is delightful. He's got plenty of get-up-and go, but does his fair share of laying around on his comfie beds. He adores antlers and other chews, likes to follow me around, loves car rides and walks, and attention from just about anyone. He is a gentle, tolerant, happy boy. He is also mostly if not completely deaf. Grandpa is living peacefully with my three dogs but gets along best with larger female dogs. He does have some prey drive when it comes to small dogs but it is a piece of cake to manage and he does just fine once he knows them. He is a bit stiff in the rear but that is even improving with good food, supplements and daily exercise. The vet finds him to be in very good health for his age.
Grandpa Joe is being fostered in San Francisco. I will consider placing him out-of-area again but only with references and a reputable rescue in the area that can do a homecheck. No more street wandering or shelter-time for this guy!

I have lots more pics and even a little video available so please send me a pm if you want to see more or email me at turtledog@gmail.com
