I know. I just finished clipping him (had not gotten quite all the mats off before) and bathing him so he'll be clean for his vet visit - he's not really "gained" per se, he's just less dehydrated. When he has crate time, which, because he's tired, he has a lot of, I have a water bottle hanging on his crate door so he has 24/7 access to water, and he licks it a lot so that has helped with the dehydration I think.
My boy had a 60 white count while I was treating him for coccidiomycosis. You dont have that up north but maybe something else fungal if it isnt cancer ????? Just something to think about, I know from the TBD list I am on some of those dogs can get insane WBCs........... Good Luck !
Hm...fungal. I didn't think of that. Well we're back from the vet, his prostate is okay, he had a cheat grass in his foot that just popped up and they removed it and they did a repeat CBC. The bad news is it won't go out until tomorrow - so we won't know until Saturday or Monday. He had gained a few lbs., which is good news - he was 15.13 today and he was 13 something the first day!
Well he's not losing - it's just a matter of time I'm sure PLUS getting those teeth pulled. When we first got Napoleon in, it took him a long time, 3 - 4mos. to really see gain - his teeth were horribly rotten and abscessed though, not as bad probably as this guy's.
Happy update here - Blackie's WBC is down to 13,000!!! That's WNL! His RBCs are coming up too! I can't get over what good food and TLC will do for a dog. He's awesome. He's almost recovered, well, his bloodwork says anyway - he's gaining but it's slow going of course, but his attitude is so much better now. We'll recheck his thyroid levels in a month or so
