My Boyfriend has a pal who is having a bit of a Dog dilemma.
Rudy's Friend Craig took Halo in a year ago-
at the time a 1 year old beautiful American Bully girl with lots of spunk, and a need for training-
as a temporary foster from a friend who was neglecting her.
He already had two dogs- a bully boy and an elderly golden retriever...
but was sure he could find a home for her quickly.
That didn't quite work...
so he tried to integrate her into his pack about six months ago.
She became dog-aggressive, and Halo had to be moved into a kennel to keep his dogs safe.
At the same time, he took in his niece after her father died.
That is where she has resided for the past 6 months- a kennel, or a garage, or a crate...
with a minimum amount of socialization becuase they're so busy with the new child and two socialized dogs.
At the moment, they don't know what to do.
And I don't know what to do to help them.
We live in a county with a high Pit Bull kill-rate in our shelter.
The SPCA won't take her because we're in the wrong county.
CraigsList post have turned up no takers.
I'd love to take her but with a DA dog myself, it'd be no different for her.
The local rescues won't take owner-surrenders... even if Halo isn't their registered dog.
At this point, I think that euth'ing Halo is going to be her happiest outcome...
but they won't do it if she's healthy, and I don't think they want to do that.
What kid of resources can I use?
Can anyone help me help a friend?
