Hi! My name is Bootleg. I am an overweight, 3-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. My owner brought me into the vet's office after I had been in labor for 3 days. Something had gone badly wrong and even though my vet did all he could, he could not save my puppies. Or my uterus. When my owner found out that I could no longer be his puppy-making machine, he said he no longer wanted me.

My vet noticed other signs of abuse and neglect, but I'm slowly learning to trust again. I do not like other animals but love people. I also love my stuffed lion. It goes with me everywhere! My foster mommy is working on my weight and basic commands. I am crate trained and I'm already pretty good at sit!

I need a home where I can be an only dog and be lavished with affection and lay on a couch. Can you help???

She needs no biscuits!!! She really loves her crate, just goes in there to chill out with the door open. And she really loves the air conditioning.

I am fostering her because the vet's office is building an indoor/outdoor kennel/dog run (like the dog pound, kind of) and they are prepared to keep her until they find her a home. The have had two people express interest so far, but they really weren't interested in the people. So, she's safe for now. She would really just like a home, though.

She's as sweet as can be. Loves to give kisses and get hugs. She's kind of skittish with over-the-head pets but I think she's beginning to understand that I'm not going to hurt her.

I got her on the scale with me and she weighs 60 pounds. I'm thinking she needs to weigh somewhere around 50 based on her height.

What a lucky soul she is to have found your Beowulf I bet once she has slimmed down, she'll have adoption applications flying in!

(Does anyone else notice that obese dogs are often overlooked?)
