KCMO Shelter Pit Bull Thread

Hi guys, expect to see a lot of these from me, so I just made my own thread. I work that the KCMO shelter and we have several exquisite pit bulls and pit bull mixes looking for homes. We are a high volume kill shelter but we try not to euthanize unless all of our options are exhausted. These dogs are evaluated by an onsite behaviorist and trainer. This is not the simple "pass/fail" test many shelters utilize. We try and get an accurate picture of each dog's personality, and what kind of training may help the dog be successful in a new home.

Today I am showing off a handsome guy named Kentucky. Kentucky is a playful, handsome brindle male with a smile to die for. Kentucky is fantastic with other dogs as well, and our trainer will often use him for dog on dog tests.

His adoption fee is $75 and includes all age appropriate vaccs, heartworm test, spay/neuter and microchip!

Morgan is scared at the shelter, but she tries so hard to maintain her composure. She is a gorgeous girl and should blossom when she is out of the chaos. Morgan is also heartworm+. :(

If you are out of state I would call the shelter and ask to speak to our rescue coordinator, but only for SERIOUS inquiries ONLY. We would prefer in-state adoptions and placements, but networking is also important.
SPONSORS can help these dogs go a long way, and will help take care of spaying or neutering, heartworm testing and other vetting needed to get these animals out of the shelter as soon as possible.

Kentucky is ADOPTED

I'm going to speak with our rescue coordinator about pulling for out of state rescues. Right now, the shelter is at capacity and we are paying approved local rescues $25/dog with full vetting. Let me get with her and our director and shelter manager and see what we can work out with out of state people. I also plan on posting a more comprehensive list of our pit bull type dogs and what their temperament status is, as evaluated by our behaviorist.
