Found older stray or dumpee

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Found older stray or dumpee

Postby adoptanapbt » Tue May 29, 2012 12:53 am

I went on a ride along today with a park ranger, and rather than drunken idiots at the river, what else do we run into but a lost or abandoned dog? She was standing in the middle of the bike path, looking bewildered. She was not wearing a collar & isn't chipped, of course. The ranger I was riding with was nice enough to drive us to my house where she spent the day in Desi's crate. Her health issues so far: underweight, fleas, gingival hyperplasia, growth on her back, unspayed, inverted/infected nipple (the only way I can describe it). And she's old enough that I want to do bloodwork before she gets spayed. She's definitely part boxer, possibly mixed with pit, but only around 40lbs.

Would anyone like a senior project? :D

Pics coming...

Can we post photos without using a host website? Our firewall at work won't let me access photobucket, etc. :crybaby:

Well, she went in for bloodwork on Tuesday & it came back normal, including a negative heartworm test! :yipee:

I named her Parker, since she was found at Discovery Park & no one would go for the name Disco.

She got her first vaccines, a bath, Capstar, Comfortis & a deworming. She's already a lot less itchy & one of the "masses" seems to be drying up nicely, so might just be an old moist dermatitis or something. She eats & drinks like a horse. She's been okay with the cats, had no accidents so far, made minimal fuss about crating, and today she spent time in the same room with my two with no drama of any kind. Which is nice, because the x-pen dividing the front room is kind of annoying.

Parker's spay/mass removal/gingival cautery is scheduled for Monday. Shortly after that, she will be available for adoption. ;)

Well, Parker came through her surgeries with flying colors, minus a pretty rough first night. She is spayed, had her gingival hyperplasia pruned back, had a small mass removed, and got microchipped. She's ready to meet prospective owner(s) now and can leave once her staples come out!
