Ditty is ready for adoption!

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Ditty is ready for adoption!

Postby greenkozi » Thu Dec 01, 2005 9:23 pm

(she's not a real pit bull, but she is a rescue! feel free to crosspost!)

Do You Ditty?

<img src="http://www.themacinator.com/ditty/arenticute.jpg" width=400>

Ditty is about about a year old, 45 pounds, a “pure bred mutt,” spayed, microchipped, and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $95. She is available for adoption through the Santa Cruz County Animal Services, but you won’t find her in any shelter, as she is currently living the high life in a foster home in Scotts Valley.

Ditty is looking for a home with lots of stuffed animals (she likes to have one in her mouth at all times) and preferably, a male dog who likes to play! She’d like to go to training classes to help settle in and build her confidence- she can be quite shy when getting to know new people, but once she is comfortable, she’s all spunk! She is already crate trained, and should keep up on that foundation, and almost 100% potty trained.

To learn more about Ditty, or to meet her, please email laurenbr@gmail.com Interested parties will need to meet basic shelter criteria for adoptions as well as show proof that they are enrolled in an obedience class within a week of bringing Ditty Bop home.

we have to take some more pictures. we will do that soon, i PROMISE! she is adorable. and a handful. it's going to be hard to find this dog the perfect home, but she is definitely ready. she is deceptively shy at first, because i swear- this girl is a spitfire once she's comfortable- we have puppy zoomies 3-6 times a day!

she carries toys everywhere- can dogs be orally fixated? she bitebitebites them, it's hilarious. and a dog who likes her (as opposed to mac, who only likes her when she's in her crate) will really boost her confidence- her whole body language changes when there's a dog in the room.

Awe...mac (aroni :)) ) doesnt like her?

Seriously, she is adorable. I think Buster would love her. I wish my rental office would, fat chance.

So your a foster parent success story huh? I dont know, I think I would have failed with that face.

I dont know if it is the picture, but she looks like a pit bull to me...

Good luck...I will be back to check for more pictures!

it's the picture. she probably has pit bull somewhere in her, but she has this long skinny nose (kelpie maybe?), lab-like hair, and the awkwardest body this side of the mississippi. if there ever was a mutt, this is it! she sure is cute, though.

the sob story behind this dog: she was roaming a strawberry field in watsonville for *a MONTH*. noone could catch her. finally, they put out a dog trap for her. she was in the trap for *24 hours* (hence the name Dog In The Trap). when she came in, she was super freaked out- had to be carried in by an officer. i have never seen a dog that handled so much stress so well. this is a solid dog. she is still unsure in situations, but i have never once seen a freeze from her, a whale eye, a submissive pee, nothing. when we were recieving her into the shelter, she hid under the desk, next to the officer's feet. the same guy who had carried her into the shelter. she loves people, she just wasn't sure what to do around them, for the obvious reasons. (the dog once was owned- she was wearing three collars when she came in. :huh?: )

i couldn't say no to her. she wasn't going to be adopted in the shelter with her initial wariness of strangers. so, i intro'd her to mac(aroni) or mac(adoodle), and mac had his first (and hopefully last) dog fight. i posted a thread about this in the training section. it was TOTALLY my fault. they were fine together until she went submissive and mac went for Ditty. he doesn't know what to do with himself in that situation (or in many play situations- he was great until she wanted to play). so we've been crating and rotating. and we will continue to.

honestly, i probably won't be failing fostering for a long time. between my roommate and i we have 3 dogs. we like having 3 dogs. we are not looking to have 4 dogs. lol i like having mac all to myself.

and i'm looking forward to placing ditty in the perfect home, and in awhile, fostering again!

I ditty's "other mommy" and I just wanted to give you all an update (ok, and bump this post  ) Ditty is still with us and still available for adoption. She is doing great, meeting lots of new people and dogs. She still has tons of energy and is turning into a great running partner. I think that she would still do best living with another dog, but would probably do well with anyone who can devote enough time to her and her energy. Here are some more pics of our girl. Image
