Looking to adopt a pit bull

Postby Little Pittie » Sun Oct 21, 2007 4:39 pm

Okay I am looking for a female pit bull. I finally got my husband to say yes to getting one. Though it took years and years of prodding and begging. roflmao I would like to rescue if possible and I know this section is full of pitties looking for a good home, but there are waaaaaaaay too many posts for me to skim through. lol Since a lot of you have looked through all of these posts, I was wondering if anyone could suggested a dog for me!

I am looking for a female pit bull. I would like a younger dog if possible. A puppy is what I'm really looking for. I adopted my last dog as an adult and I would like to be able to experience the puppy years if I could. I have a male dog about three years old so a submissive female would work best. I would of course keep them separated while I was at work. I would like a dog who is comfortable around children as well and loves to lick people. Any suggestions? Thanks! :))

have you checked pet finder?
I would look into one at a foster home if you are looking for one to meet your lifestyle. As fosters have the dog in their homes before adopting out.

Good luck in your search!
And THANK YOU for thinking adoption! there are soo many who need good homes!

www.petfinder.com
type in pit bull and your zip code and that should give ya a starting point if no one is close to you from this site who has fosters!

They are out of Sioux Falls, SD and have some pups avail. for adoption.

I live in NW Iowa and recently adopted from MABBR which is in Kansas City. http://www.mabbr.org/ They did an excellent job in helping me get the right dog for our household!

I am in central Iowa in the Des Moines area. I'll check into those. Thanks so much! :))

I've heard EXCELLENT things about MABBR. They come HIGHLY recommended from the person who once ran the shelter I adopted my dog from. :))

I'm not sure where exactly you are in IA, but be careful, BSL is RAMPANT in IA...and I know there are fairly heavy restrictions in Des Moines...

Don't worry. I know all about it. The town I am in is close to Des Moines which has restrictions on owning pit bulls, but I'm not a resident of DM. I've done the research. :))
