found a pup. free to a good home

Postby tonka tank » Sun Oct 28, 2007 11:32 am

first i havent posted in a while, forgot the password lol.

i found this dog near a dumpster in delaware last night. she looked so sad and cold i couldnt leave her there for a second. shes deffinatly a pit bull(pure bred??) not too sure.
someone also cut one of her ears off ( im guessing to look "cool") but only did one, me and some friends say it gives her character.
i have tonka who is falling in love with her, all they want to do is play. so shes being socialized for the small time ill have her.
she seems about 14weeks-ish old.

please msg me with any questions
im in south new jersey

yea im afraid to bring her to a shelter, eventhough she is still a baby. my area isnt too keen on pit bulls.

and i didnt have the heart to just ignore it. worst case senario tonka gets a baby sister.

aww she looks like a sweetie pie! Thanks for taking her in god only knows what could have happened to her! I'm not sure but in JC I don't think they adopt out pits unless they give them to a rescue. Good luck with her!

please find the resources to get her spayed first. You can apply to PBRC to pay for her spay. I would advise against "free to good home"

contact Rogers REscues in south jersey for help..
i would NOT adopt her out without her being spayed first. FRiends of Animals.org has a spay program where females cost only $65 to spay...

FOA is $90 now...But you just never know with people. They also could lose her, or give her to someone else who may breed her.

Try applying at a local humane society for assistance, sometimes it's even free.

ok i just got back.. spent a few hours there just talking. the family seemed great few kids, they already have an older female pit about the same colors as the pup. they were all very supportive of the breed, and understood my issues with some of the animal shelters around here.
they are fixing her, although she doesnt have a name yet. she looked so happy running around with the kids and kissing the other dog.
great thing is they live around the corner.. so ill get to see her grow up.

NO SAME SEX ADOPTIONS!!!!!!! 2 females in the house WILL resort to fighting issues.. do NOT give this pup to this home.

contact rogers rescues or rawhiderescue in nj near you.. do not let this female pup go to a female home!!

Apply for help at www.pbrc.net. Also read over their recommendations regarding placement. Same sex adoptions are not recommended. Most pit bulls begin to show a certain amount of intolerance to other dogs as they age and especially same sex dogs. The liklihood of a same sex adoption working out for the entire life of this dog is VERY SLIM

Hmm, yeah, did you talk to them about the higher risk of female-female aggression? Dominance issues? Crating and rotating?
