Why Alice is lucky she looks like Martin...

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Why Alice is lucky she looks like Martin...

Postby caped dog » Wed Nov 07, 2007 10:17 am

The first time this mannerless, bald-spotted, booby dragging mess tumbled out of her owners car I thought, "that looks like Kingsgurl's Martin". In fact, I called her to say I had her dog. We discussed the possibility of book ends and she declined.

I had promised the owner I would take home their sickly "on death's door" little dog from the domestic violence home she had been left in, and was being used as a pawn to hurt another person. However, this dog was not a physical mess so much as a behavioral one. I realllllllly tried to hide behind "this is not what I signed for" but ultimately KG and TB helped me see that death was no option for this beast and we all needed to chip in to see her through. It's been six weeks and here's her update:

Meet Alice. She's SPAYED, chipped, up to date on shots. 1 1/2 year old. a whole heck of a lot a fun all packed into a beautiful little pit bull body. These pictures are a month old - her coat and muscle tone are much better now. In this time she has shown us that she is quite a "soft" and gentle spirit eager to please her human. She makes fabulous eye contact and falls all over herself to love you and get belly rubs. She is a real pit bull and as such requires a real owner.

Alice is an opportunist so adopter should have a good handle on responsible ownership of bully breeds or be very willing to learn. (previous owner left her unsupervised in the yard so yelling at passing dogs was both safe and fun). If you can be consistent and clear with her, she can be your baby and you can have the quality of a dog-human relationship that people write books about.

We also need a place for Alice to lay her head from December 2-December 16th so if you'd like to help out or get to know her a bit please let us know. If you are considering adopting, please note; Adoption fee, adoption contract, home check. Training support included.

KG's got her now, and hopefully these old pix will inspire one of us to post new ones.

She needs to go, I do NOT need a 3rd dog, even if she DOES look like Martin. I am somewhat embarrassed to be seen walking the two of them, people keep asking me for puppies
She's a super sweetie, and as Molly said, LOVES to learn and be given direction. She lives to please (or play ball, or lay on the couch or fetch) She can go, go, go.
Despite her (easily diverted) habit of yelling through a barrier when first introduced to new dogs she is actually pretty dog social. Her play style is pushy though.
She is lovely and I would be sorely tempted by the book-end effect if I didn't already have more dogs then time. It isn't fair for her.

Well, except for the saggy boobs lol Which, btw, are firming back up. She's quite the looker
For reference, here is their first time together. It's dark, but you can see they look a like lol Martin thinks she is pushy.

roflmao roflmao roflmao

martin is right!! those pictures are great. Maybe we could get some $$ if we promoted them as a succesful clone job... The weirdest thing about these 2 is that they come from opposite sides of the Country and yet they are a spot-on match. In fact, KG told me someone recently mistook Alice for Martin...

I just got my PF and PBRC pages back, get some new pix of that beast ASAP and post them so I can make pretty pages for her. SHe is so soft and her coat came back in really nicely, it'd be great to show that off (although I am partial to loveslut pictures as well)

Her coat DID come in fantastic. I need a new camera. The cell phone pics are crappy and do not do her justice.

I'm bumping this, as Alice (now renamed Nala)'s potential adopter has fallen through. Shame because he seemed really committed and devoted to her. He still wants her, but is not in a position to care for her financially and he now has no place to live. I can't continue to keep her and feed her while he works on getting his life together.

She's a sweet, sweet girl (who has packed on some serious pounds over the last couple weeks, since her suitor has not been around to take her running, yikes)

I will post updated pics
