we always have pit bulls at the shelter that need fostering. ALWAYS!!!!
specifically though, just in case anyone's interested: right now, we have a dog named hopper at the shelter. he's around 6 months old and was rescued after being abandoned in a yard. it's obvious that some punks were using him as bait (yes, bait). he is covered in scars and wounds, but is completely not aggressive, as all six month old dogs should be. when he first came to the shelter, we set him up in the kitchen with blankets and heaters because he was just soo painful and sad. of course, like a true bully, he struggled to greet everyone that came in the door with kisses and a wigglebut, despite how difficult it was for him to even stand up. at one point, he crawled on his belly over to me and just put his head down on my foot. he's so sweet, he even still likes other dogs.
what he needs now is a place where he can begin to heal. many of his open wounds are starting to heal, but he's got a ways to go. besides the physical stuff, he is fearful of a lot right now. not fearful aggressive, but he always seems to be waiting for another attack, kick, slap, punch, etc. and even though he's nervous that tail is always going. the shelter is not really a good environment for an already stressed out dog that has special needs. i'd like to find someone to take him asap.
you can't really tell just how beat up he is, but it gives you an idea.
