Plea for Puck (Old Man)

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Update on Puck (now Bennie)

Postby ladyred » Sun Mar 02, 2008 10:32 am

Hi all,

I thought I would post to let you know how Puck (now called Bennie) is doing. We changed his name to Bennie because our Tucker was getting confused when we called Puck, LOL.

We named him Bennie because it means "Son of the South" and "blessed", because he is blessed that everyone who made donations to send him out here, saved his life.

He's fit in wonderfully here. It was originally thought that he had moderate hearing loss, but it seems that isn't the case. He hears us fine when we call him, and he's even starting to respond to his new name. Bennie's gained some weight and his coat has improved dramatically. Hair is growing in on his rear, but it doesn't look like the hair lost on his tail is coming back so far. His dry skin is much improved due to DermCaps we're giving him.

He likes to play and loves running around the backyard with Tucker. He and Molly get along pretty well, but she was the alpha female in the house before he came along, and Bennie I think feels she isn't, so they are never together without our supervision. When we're here, they're fine together though. I just don't want to take any chances.

If you lay on the floor with him, he nudges over until he's pressed against you, and then rolls on his back for tummy rubs. He's always up for giving kisses, but his breath leaves something to be desired, though it's gotten a lot better in the past month. Vet said his remaining teeth, though worn from apparent bone chewing, are in great shape.

We've learned that not only does he know the "sit" command, but he knows how to give us the paw as well, as you'll see in the photos below.

I picked up a new camera off of craigslist, and thought I would post some photos for all of you who were so kind to give donations to save him.

These were taken right after he got a bath yesterday (and he was awesome in the tub btw). He was kind of lounging around and I snapped some photos. I'll try to get him running around the backyard. He may be nine or ten years old, but he sure as hell doesn't know it, LOL. He's a really active guy.

I'll shut up now and post the photos. :)

Thank you again, everyone. He truly is a blessing in our home.

Allie,

I totally can't help loving on him all the time. He wants nothing more than to be with someone, and will follow me around the house all day. I've got an entourage when I'm cleaning house with the three of them.

He's a riot. lol lol

It's so funny, when he and Tucker are outside together, it's like a marking competition. Bennie pees on the fence, then Tucker goes and pees on top of it. It's like follow the leader.
