Poor Sky, returning to rescue

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Poor Sky, returning to rescue

Postby BabyReba » Mon Dec 06, 2004 11:58 am

My sweet baby girl Sky, who I placed in a home just two months ago with a youngish couple who live near my, is being returned to me. I'm so unhappy that it didn't work out.

After they had her for a while, the guy lost his job and ended up taking a new job that has him working lots more hours; ever since then, she's been reverting on her housebreaking and they called me a few times for advice and help and I did my best to "counsel" them through it, but they finally decided it's not working out for them. They think she's not getting the time or training a pup needs, and I was angry with them at first . . . but the more I've talked to them about it, the more I think they are right. They've admitted that they think they made a mistake in adopting a pup, and they want to do what's right by her.

They are going to "foster" her till I find her a home . . . but I want/need to find her a foster home. If they don't have time for her, they don't have time for her. I'd like to get her to a solid placement. She is such a sweetie, and she's at an age where she really needs to go through some formal training. I wish I could keep her myself, she's so sweet and full o' personality. I love her to bits.

For those who remember her (or those who might not), here she is a week or two before she was placed.

If you're in the Mid-Atlantic and know anyone looking for a pit bull less than a year old, feel free to forward them to her Petfinder page:

She's sensitive, sweet, is appropriately behaved with other dogs (though a bit rough for smaller dogs), ADORES children. Poor Sky.

Aww, what a shame that it didn't work out. At least they called you back. I hope she can find her forever home soon...

Are you willing to do outta state adoptions for the right home? I can list any of the dogs that you like to be seen here in Oregon... and help get great home checks, etc. done. That is the only way I can think of helping :(

Hey Steph,

Hmmm, I'm not totally opposed to out of state adoptions, but I do worry about the logistics--what if there was a problem, who would they contact? And who would be doing follow ups to make sure she was OK? And transport would be hard, too . . . I'm petrified of seeing her bounce again, too . . . poor thing. The people who have her just called me to tell me that she's learned to "give hugs" this week. I'm sick about this. :crybaby:

If you want to network, you just share ideas, please feel free to PM me at anytime.

That thing about the hugs just about broke my heart!
