I used to boil huge beef bones before I gave them to my last dog (not a pit) to clean it up a bit before she got it. Do you think boiling would cause it to splinter?
Introducing any kind of heat to a bone makes them brittle. Microwave, boil, bake, smoke. The only time I trim a bone is if there is a lot of fat on it, other wise I let them go at them. I used to boil them before I knew better, thank god I didn't have Sasha at the time.
can feeding a dog a raw beef bone cause diarhea. I have just recently started feeding the dogs one raw bone each in the morning, and they have had loose stools ever since. ( about two weeks) Not always really soft, but some days yes, some days no....
Could it maybe just take a little while for them to get used to them in their diet?
i would guess its the same as if you changed their food. their system just has to get used to it. im in the process of switching my boy over to wellness fish and hes got the loosie poopies too. gotta bring a couple bags for him on a walk
Thats what I thought. We actually just switched their food from Eukanuba to Canidae about 3 weeks ago, so maybe its just too much for their systems.... ??
go to a local butcher. and often times super markets will sell them.
my dad works in the meat room at a super market. back in the day they used to give them away, but nowadays they cant they have to sell them or throw them out. they sell them for use in making beef stocks.
