Sadie has something very similar and I just continue to apply neosporin to it and she's healing up fine.

I can't tell if that's a cut or a brush burn. Either way i don't think hair is ever going to grow there again. there might not be a visible scar on the skin when it heals, but i doubt your gonna see any hair grow back.

You can try opening a Vit E cap and rubbing some on twice a day.

When I got my dog he had tons of cuts all over his face and it did help.

Daisy has one on her back identical to that. I clean it and use Neosporin. The skin grew back perfect with no visible scar tissue, no hair yet though.

Horse Trick:
Paliminos are light horses, and if they get a bad scrape the hair often grows back in dark (if it grows in at all). A friend of mine has a halter show stallion and he ripped himself open on a fence. She used cold bacon grease on the scab twice a day, the hair grew back quickly and was not darkened. It doesn't hurt to try... of course, there is the difficulty in getting the dog not to lick it incessently...

Past that, I don't know anything else to try that hasn't already been suggested.

same thing happened to rod... he got pounced by a german shepherd when rod approached the owner. bit his neck real good too.

rods wasnt a long gash though it was two deep puncture wounds so his scaring was small. my vet told me NOT to use neosporan. but if it worked for other people than may be it aint all that bad
